Mylanie Barré
Bio
Edit BioMylanie was born in Budapest, Hungary but was raised in Lac Beauport, Quebec where she continues to live and train today. Both of her parents competed in kayak at Olympic Games and her mother Alexandra won two medals at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles for Hungary. Alexandra represented Hungary in the 1975 Junior World Championships and won two bronze medals. The following year Alexandra was named to the Hungarian Olympic Team and was the first junior to ever be named to Olympic Team.
A highlight of her career so far was her 7th place finish at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens with partner Caroline Brunet, who she considers an important role model and influence in her life.
At the 2007 World Championships in Germany, Mylanie competed in the K-2 and K-4 500m events finishing in 11th and 15th respectively. Earlier in her career, Mylanie won a bronze medal in the K-2 1000m event at the 2003 World Championships hosted in Gainesville, Georgia.
Mylanie plans to become an accountant when she finishes competing. One of her key sponsors is HBC.
