CanoeKayak team named and ready for London

 

CanoeKayak Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee presented the team of paddlers who will represent Canada at the Olympic Games. Seven sprint paddlers and one slalom paddler will take to the water in London in the pursuit of medals.

Highlights of Sprint Trials 2

 

A total of 271 athletes from across Canada competed at Sprint Trials 2 in Montréal. Special thanks to all of the athletes, officials, organizers, volunteers, coaches and athletes. See results, photos and team selections... 

Giving back to a welcoming community

 

When Michael Fekete arrived in Canada in 1977 from Hungary, he found his way to the Toronto Island Canoe Club and was welcomed with paddler-sized open arms.

Pointe-Claire hosts Paddle-O-Thon fundraiser

 

As part of our efforts to highlight ideas for club fundraisers and best practices, we caught up with Jeannie-Marie Lariviere of the Pointe-Claire Canoe Club. The racing team held a paddle-o-thon to raise money for a much needed new war canoe and to help out a local charity

It is a made in Canada, cedar strip racing canoe that must withstand the stresses of fourteen muscular sprint canoeists who one day just might be capable of creating enough energy to burst the epoxy and screws that hold it all together.
