Former CKC and ICF Starter and Gilbert Award Recipient Peter McCabe Passes Away - March 7th, 2010

Peter McCabe passed away peacefully on March 5, 2010 at 6:18 a.m. after a courageous battle with cancer at the Anna Laberge Hospital in his seventy-second year. Most beloved husband and best friend of Brenda (nee Tracey) for 33 years. Beloved father of Duane, Deidre and Darren. Predeceased by sisters Margaret and Patricia (Brian Turner). Survived by many nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Pete was an employee of Nortel Networks for 39 years.

"Mr. Starter" as he was known, was a long time Official for CanoeKayak Canada and proudly officiated at 6 Summer Olympics and numerous World Championships, as well as National Championships. He was also a Gilbert Award winner of CanoeKayak Canada; the highest volunteer recognition award of CKC. He had a great love for golf and sports. He was always known for his sense of humour and love of life.
