National Junior Paddling Team Named - May 24th, 2000

OTTAWA--The Canadian Canoe Association announced Wednesday the 12 athletes selected to the national junior team. Selections were based on performances at the national team trials May 13-14 in Montreal. The team departs for Germany on June 5 and will represent Canada at meets in Recklinghausen on June 10-11 and in Bochum June 17-18. They'll return home to train before leaving for more competitions in Hungary from July 31 - August 14. The team is composed of the following athletes, representing three disciplines: Women's kayak: Jennifer Adamson, 17, Grasswood, Sask.; Stephanie Robertson, 15, Regina; Pamela Doyle, 17, Dartmouth; Jamie Lynn McCarthy, 15, Dartmouth. Men's kayak: Adam Van Koeverden, 18, Oakville, Ont.; Mark de Jonge, 16, Halifax; Sean Gibson, 18, Dartmouth, N.S.; Sean Wadel, 17, Ottawa. Men's canoe: Tom Hall, 18, Pointe Claire, Que.; Pierre-Phillipe Normand, 17, Cap-de-la-Madelaine, Que.; Andrew Russell, 17, Dartmouth; Matt Higgins, 17, Ottawa.
